چکیده
Acrylates andmethacrylates are the salts, esters and conjugate bases of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid, respectively. They are well known to cause allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) (1). Occupational contact dermatitis (OCD) resulting from the use of (meth)acrylates has been widely reported in beauticians and ‘nail artists’. According to The Health and Occupation Research database, the frequency of OCD in beauticians resulting from the use of (meth)acrylates significantly increased between 1996 and 2011 (2). Over this time period, the number of people working in the industry had increased, and the popularity of beauty treatments continues to grow. Others have also found OCDcausedby (meth)acrylates to be a significant problem among nail technicians (3). Theaimsof this studywere (i) to determinewhether the frequency ofACDcaused by acrylates is increasing among consumers and in an occupational context, and (ii) to describe the clinical features. The term ‘acrylates’, as used here for the sakeof readability, also refers tomethacrylates and cyanoacrylates.

تجمع جیوه در مو و ناخن انسان: آمالگام دندانی به عنوان فاکتور اصلی مواجهه
Background: Dental amalgam, a mixture of approximately 50% mercury with silver, tin, zinc and copper in varying ratios, is a major source of mercury pollution in the general population not occupationally exposed. The toxicity of mercury is enhanced because it is so readily absorbed, with around 90-100% of mercury vapor being absorbed through the oral mucosa. The aim of the current study is to e...
متن کاملExposure to Antineoplastic Agents Induces Cytotoxicity in Nurse Lymphocytes: Role of Mitochondrial Damage and Oxidative Stress
Cytotoxicity and mitochondrial parameters were studied in isolated lymphocytes and their mitochondria obtained from occupationally exposed nurses through inhalation exposure to antineoplastic drugs and results were compared to those of unexposed nurses. The group of occupationally exposed nurses consisted of 50 individuals ranging in age from 30 to 35 years. The control group included 50 nurses...

متن کاملORGANOPHOSPHATE-INDUCED CHRONIC TOXICITY IN OCCUPATIONALLY EXPOSED WORKERS
Organophosphate chronic toxicity has been evaluated in this study. Biological screening for organophosphate insecticide-exposed workers is mostly recommended for mixers, loaders, formulators and spraymen. We have studied 17 occupationally exposed persons to pesticides. Using Ellman's colorimetric method, their plasma cholinesterase activities have been measured. Results show that the appear...
